All the Estate fisheries are stocked with Trout that are hatched and grown at Leckford. Specially selected Broodstock are stripped of their eggs in the Autumn,these are fertilised and then kept in the Hatchery until they hatch around Christmas. The alevins are moved to progressively larger tanks until ready to go out as fry in the Spring. It will take up to two and a half years of careful nurturing before they are ready to stock into the River or Lakes.
